Behind The Glow: What 3 Months Taught Me About Starting A Business

Soultera Pearls soft-launched in June, earlier this year and it’s hard for me to process this because where did the time go? As someone who is freshly entering the big world of e-commerce I thought to share my learnings mainly because I want to connect with more entrepreneurs and also share more parts of the work with people who are following the journey. So lets get started!

First set of sample pearls I ordered online for Soultera Pearls summer 2025

  1. Done is better than perfect

    1. I went for coffee with a friend who also started his own business and one of the things that pushed me to start this was that “done is better than perfect”. For the longest time, I was waiting for the righ moment and learning from him, getting things done is way better because things will align eventually when the work goes in. Also through out the planning and execution it allowed me to not dwell or overthink things to perfection. Also a persian

  2. Keep a priority list and circling back to this when things pop up.

    1. I think this is probably the best thing I learned from my 9-5 coz it keeps me focused on my priorities. I think the more you work the more to-do’s, ideas and suggestions come to mind and having this list daily, weekly or monthly really helped me stay on track and motivated.

  3. Make decisions based on your vision and goals and not what others are doing. You are the boss

    1. Since I’m new market research is very necessary and there were moments where I felt initmidated by other people in the jewellery market. I literally spiraled one time and rang my friend to calm me down. FOMO is real and this is something I’m learning to not give in to. I think learning to trust my ownn authentic creative process and decision making was something that is very empowering and one thing I had to get used to.

  4. The fear of people knowing and seeing what you’re doing gets easier. Its really all in your head.

    1. I think because I don’t post or share enough about the things I truly enjoy on instagram, it made me it harder for me to just post and let people know. Idk how I got over this fear i don’t think i fully have but I after netowring with people, they told me to go for it and not care. So I did, here I am and and I honesyl am mso grateful for my friends and family that are excited about my new venture and suppoting me. Thats all that really matters at the end of the day.

  5. Adapt a growth mindset, it makes setbacks a lot easier

I have to thank corporate for this because starting your own business really forces you to let go of a fixed mindset. Personally this is has become my biggest motivation to keep going because it allows me tokeep an open mind and have grace towards myself and also having appreciation on where my knowledge was a month ago. Its very early stages for me so making mistakes or not having things go the way you want is all learning opportunities for me.

I hope you found this insightful, Idk if this will be a a regular series but let me know if any of these learning resonate with you and thanks for watchin and being a part of this journey and until next time

stay peaceful,

Jerli
