The Mariposa Cuff
Soultera presents to you our Mariposa pearl collection! The first collection drop for my pearl business and I’m so hyped for this! The Mariposa cuff features two things I love in the world right now, which is butterflies and pearls.
If I had to choose what my spirit animal would be, it would either be a butterfly or an oyster. Both creatures are delicate and undergo a transformational process, how can you not be inspired by them! How could it not make you think and reflect on the similarities your soul goes through in life?
The behind the scenes:
I found these pieces when my sister, Cherry, and I were looking for jewellery to wear for our first Christmas in the Philippines after 12 years, and we were at the Kultura shop in SM department store. My sister spotted the white pearl and butterfly among the overwhelming display of pearl jewellery, and her eyes glistened with excitement. Of course, seeing her face, I had to get one and was jealous because it was the last one. Ready to fight my sister for this, the shop assistant brought out another one, but this time the pearl had a lavender shade, which was even better for me because I like all things purple! Over the moon with our matching sister bracelets, we had to get another one for our older sister. We also got her the same design but with a black pearl. Cherry thought it was fitting since she’s the black sheep of the family, which never occurred with me, but for journalistic storytelling, you now know this.
It became clear to me that pearls were the products I wanted to try out for my business and for most of the first months of 2024, I was looking for a supplier in the Philippines that could bring me the design. Kultura didn’t get back to me, despite my awesome pitch to work with them my mom told me I would have a better shot finding suppliers in the Mindanao islands, specifically in Davao. With the help of her friend who visited pearl jewellery shops in the local market, she met Hafi, who provided these designs and delivered higher quality pearls than the ones we got from the department store.
The design:
Wear our dainty Mariposa cuff to add a touch of glamour to your everyday look or to make a statement at a special event. The freshwater pearl comes in three different colours: white, black and pink/lavender. The pink/lavender pearls are called edison pearls, which have a higher quality in lustre and a rounder shape and can come in different shades.
